TREKKING WITH THE GUAM BOONIE STOMPERS

ON BLACK SATURDAY MORNING APRIL 7, 2007 A NON-WORKING DAY, I JOINED THE GUAM BOONIE STOMPERS ON A RATED DIFFICULT HIKE FROM ATTILONG ACHO TO UMATAC ON THE SOUTHERN PART OF GUAM. WE DESCENDED FROM THE SELLA BAY OVERLOOK AREA IN AGAT DOWN TO CETTI BAY AND TREKKED THROUGH KNEE DEEP AND ON SOME PORTIONS ALMOST WAIST DEEP OCEAN WATER ALONG THE LONG COASTLINE TO UMATAC BAY. THE FAST-PACED HIKE TOOK A WHOLE GRUELING 4 HOURS OVER 3 MILES THROUGH HEAVY BUSHES WITH SWORDGRASS, RUGGED TERRAIN WITH UP AND DOWN STEEP SLOPES, ENDING WITH A SCENIC COASTLINE ON WHAT WOULD BE ONE OF MY MOST UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCES ON GUAM.
