2007 AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY'S ANNUAL RELAY FOR LIFE ON GUAM

THE RELAY FOR LIFE IS THE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT OF THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY FOR RESEARCH ON CURE TO CANCER. IT WAS HELD FROM 7PM MAY 25, 2007 TO 7AM MAY 26, 2007 AT THE GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD OVAL IN MANGILAO GUAM. EVEN ON A RAINY NIGHT, THE BRIGHTLY LIT FIELD WAS ATTENDED BY LOCAL FAMILIES, VISITORS, TOURISTS, CORPORATE SPONSORS AND ORGANIZATIONS, MANY WHO SPENT MONTHS FUNDRAISING TARGETING TO DONATE $300,000 THIS YEAR TO THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY. I WENT FOR THE FIRST TIME TO WITNESS AND JOIN IN THE THANKSGIVING FOR CANCER SURVIVORS AND SOLEMN REMEMBRANCE OF BELOVED CANCER VICTIMS. I MADE A SIMPLE GESTURE OF WALKING 3 LAPS AROUND THE TRACK AND LIGHTING A LUMINARIA CANDLE IN MEMORY OF MY DAD WHO LOST HIS FIGHT AGAINST THE DREADED DISEASE IN 1988.
